Great view of the mountains. Wonderful location to get us into Rocky Mountain National Park within minutes, and easy access to other large cities for day trips. The hottub was great for relaxing after a long day out with the kids.

Rocky Mountain National Park

The unspoiled beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park draws thousands of visitors every year. With over 50 placid lakes and babbling streams, this is a popular fishing destination for both locals and visitors alike. In order to fish within the park, please note that you will need a valid Colorado fishing license. You can trek through over 355 miles of hiking trails or stick to the park roads for a bicycle ride suitable for all ages. After exploring, head to the Visitor Center to learn about the animals and plants you encountered on your hike or bike ride. If someone in your group loves horses, consider visiting the Glacier Creek Stables for the opportunity to see the area on four legs rather than two.

With many peaks and granite rock formations, there are lots of rock climbing opportunities. Some favorite climbs include the aptly-named Lumpy Ridge and Longs Peak. Whether you prefer bouldering, mountaineering, rock climbing, or ice climbing, the park has something for climbers of all levels. In the winter, opportunities for snowshoeing, skiing, and sledding draw all levels of explorers. If you're in the western part of the park, visit Grand Lake. This breathtaking lake is the state's largest natural body of water, promising scenic views and plenty of outdoor fun.

The beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park is something you have to experience for yourself, and this national treasure offers countless opportunities for anyone saying in an Estes Park vacation rental.

Things to do near our Estes Park cabin rentals

For an amazing view in the summertime, take the cable tramway up to the top of Prospect Mountain. Pack a picnic and prepare to capture some great photos. Although it can be a bit chilly in the lakes during the cooler months, that doesn't mean you shouldn't bring your swimsuits here---the Estes Park Aquatic Center has a heated pool so you can comfortably swim year-round.

Depending on when you choose to stay in an Estes Park vacation rental, you may be able to catch family-friendly events like the annual Teddy Bear Picnic or Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival. If you aren't able to make it to those events, don't worry: you can always pick up some local history at the Lula W. Dorsey Museum or Stanley Steam Car Museum. Visit the local shops and galleries like the Wild Spirits Gallery or Alpenglow Images & Accents to see some local photography, woodworking, jewelry, and other crafts or pick up a souvenir or two for friends and family back home.

If you're looking to explore the area outside the town, Boulder and Denver are both easily within day trip distance. Winter sports enthusiasts can make the 46-mile drive down to Eldora Ski Resort, a local favorite among skiers and snowboarders.

Whether you've seen the movie or not, you've probably heard of the famous Stanley Hotel which inspired the book on which The Shining was based and where the miniseries was shot. With large windows, classic plasterwork, and dark wood, the building is imposing and impressive---but be warned, it's commonly thought that the hotel is haunted!

With so much to do and see, you'll find something for everyone. Pack your bags, invite your friends or family, and start planning your trip today. Whichever of our beautiful Estes Park vacation rentals you decide to stay in, you'll be glad you chose this lovely Colorado town.
